I had just had it!
I was angry with myself for allowing so many years to go by 'wasted'.
There had to be more to life than this.
Now, you're probably thinking, "Yea, yea, yea, and this is where you had your big life changing moment, right? A lightning bolt perhaps?"
Well, maybe it works that way for some, but the lightbulb in my head never comes on when it should, and it usually takes me months or years to figure it out, but I got there in the end. The key moment for me was telling myself I didn't deserve another 30 years of this and it was up to me to get off my butt and do something about it!
I made a decision.
I decided that - no matter what - I was going to kick the office boredom into touch and do something for me. I decided that I was no longer going to struggle or settle for less than I was worth. I decided I was going to do what it took to live my life on my own terms.
And that's what I did.
I took action.
I invested in myself. I studied everything I could get my hands on. I trained with pioneers in colour analysis, determined to learn from the best in the business, and I knew that with determination I could break free of the office 9 to 5 shackles and do what I was really put on this earth to do... work with colour and style and encourage people to make the most of themselves.
Was it hard? I won't lie. Sometimes it was.
I often wanted to give up and just go back to my old way of living. After all, it was easier to blame other people than it was to take responsibility for my life!
But with the encouragement of my mentors, and by attending training all over the place, I changed everything. I truly took control of my life and took it to the next level.
